Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

There’s no denying dual-cab utes have evolved from a tradie’s workhorse to Australia’s favourite family car in recent years.

While the lion’s share of the domestic dual-cab market is predominantly dominated by the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger, the latter even being the best-selling vehicle by volume in Australia over the past couple of years, more brands are looking to eat up a significant share of the sales pie.

To lend a helping hand in navigating the complexity of the new and used car market, Drive has compiled a list of every dual-cab ute on sale under $80,000 that is currently available to buy in Australia.

Disclaimer: Unless stated otherwise, the prices listed in this story are the manufacturer’s recommended retail pricing and, as such, do not include on-road costs. Prices can vary and are determined by an individual driver’s circumstances. Prices are accurate as of May 12, 2025.

BYD has entered the dual-cab market with a bang, and its Shark 6 plug-in hybrid ute – the first PHEV ute in Australia – has been successful since the order books first opened in October 2024.

The BYD Shark 6 is currently offered in a single Premium grade, with prices starting from $57,900 before on-road costs.

In February 2025, plug-in hybrid sales jumped by a whopping 222.2 per cent, largely spearheaded by the Shark 6 ute, which accrued 2026 sales in the month alone.

It’s worth noting, the significant jump in PHEV sales could have been influenced by new car buyers who wanted to take advantage of the fringe benefits tax (FBT) exemption, which closed at the end of March 2025.

Still, the Shark 6 remains BYD’s best-selling model by volume this year, with the car maker delivering 6129 examples between January and April.

The Shark 6 ute is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to two electric motors – one on each axle – and a 29.6kWh battery.

BYD claims the Shark 6 has a combined output of 321kW/650Nm, and a maximum driving range of 840km in petrol-electric mode and 100km in electric-only.

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

The Ford Ranger has been the best-selling vehicle in Australia over the past couple of years, and given its extensive line-up, which offers a whopping 21 dual-cab variants, buyers are spoilt for choice.

Pricing for the dual-cab ute kicks off at the Ranger XL Hi-Rider, which is priced from $43,280 before it reaches the Ranger plug-in hybrid Wildtrak variant, which comes in at $79,990.

Buyers with a bigger budget beyond the $80K limit we've set here have the option to choose from the Ranger Platinum (from $80,640), Ranger PHEV Stormtrak ($86,990), or the flagship Ranger Raptor ($90,440).

Ford is currently offering drive-away pricing on the MY25.25 Ranger XLT (from $60,000) for ABN holders only, while a MY25.25 Ranger Wildtrak is available from $70,000 drive-away for private and fleet customers. Both offers are available at participating dealerships.

Though the US marque has become a key player at the top of Australia’s new car market, Ford is looking to stay at the top of the pyramid by diversifying the Ranger’s portfolio to include plug-in hybrid powertrain options to rival BYD’s Shark 6 ute, and GWM’s Cannon Alpha.

Additionally, Ford recently launched the Ranger Super Duty, a beefed-up variant of the Ranger ute that’s nearly the size of other large US pick-ups like the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra, and Chevrolet Silverado.

GWM Cannon ute and Cannon Alpha

GWM is another car maker that offers a range of dual-cab utes in the form of the Cannon ute and Cannon Alpha.

The Cannon ute range starts from $37,490 for the diesel premium variant, with the range topping out at the Cannon XSR, which carries a $47,990 retail sticker.

The Chinese marque is currently offering discounts of up to $6000 on the Cannon ute range, which is seen in the drive-away pricing of select models until June 30, 2025.

For example, if you're a private buyer in Victoria, the base-spec Cannon can be added to your garage for $35,490 drive-away, while the largest $6000 discount applies to the flagship Cannon XSR, which is currently priced from $46,990 drive-away in Victoria.

Meanwhile, the Cannon Alpha, the first dual-cab hybrid ute in Australia, is offered in three trims, with the base spec Cannon Alpha Lux diesel starting from $49,990.

One grade above sees customers spend an extra $6000 for the mid-trim Cannon Alpha Ultra ($55,990) before it reaches the top-grade Cannon Alpha Hybrid at $62,990.

Similarly, the MY24 Cannon Alpha Lux and Alpha Ultra are also on sale, with the two dual-cab utes available from $50,990 and $56,990 drive-away, respectively, in Victoria. Buyers can see the largest $6000 discount on the Cannon Alpha Hybrid, which is currently priced from $55,990 drive-away.

Additionally, the car maker is throwing its hat in the plug-in hybrid ring, with the 2025 GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV’s $59,990 starting price sitting above the BYD Shark 6 but well below the Ford Ranger PHEV XLT (from $71,990).

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

The Isuzu D-Max has been one of the most popular dual-cab ute options in the Australian market over the past three years. And in 2025, it shows no signs of slowing down, with the D-Max rising to become the third most popular ute sold locally (1788) between January and April this year.

Isuzu offers 18 variants of the D-Max dual-cab ute, with the entry-level D-Max SX High Ride rear-wheel drive starting from $42,700 before on-road costs are added. All members of the D-Max range all fall under the $80K bill, with the flagship D-Max Blade variant coming in at $78,900.

Isuzu is currently offering drive-away prices on two D-Max dual-cab ute grades, with the D-Max X-Rider currently available from $57,990 drive-away, while the D-Max X-Terrain can be had from $68,990 drive-away.

The offer is available to private, ABN and business fleet buyers who purchase the dual-cab ute at participating Isuzu dealerships between May 1 and May 31, 2025.

The Japanese car maker is also adding a battery-powered sibling to the D-Max range, with Isuzu confirming an electric D-Max dual-cab ute is on the cards for Australia as early as 2026. If you want to know more about the electric Isuzu D-Max, visit Drive’s previous coverage here.

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

One of the newer kids on the block, JAC offers two variants of the T9 dual-cab ute. The base-spec T9 Oasis carries a starting retail price of $42,662, while the higher grade is the T9 Haven, which is priced from $45,630.

To entice new car buyers, JAC is offering a $3000 grant and a further $500 fuel card voucher for T9 customers at participating dealerships.

According to the car maker, the grant will be seen as a $3000 discount upon checkout, and is eligible to private customers who purchase and take delivery of the ute between May 1 to June 30, 2025.

Despite launching in Australia in 2024, JAC Australia is planning a product onslaught in the next couple of years, which includes a T9 Hunter plug-in hybrid ute set to tackle the likes of the Ford Ranger and BYD Shark 6 PHEVs once it arrives in Australia sometime in 2026.

Speaking at the Melbourne Motor Show, Ahmed Mahmoud, JAC Australia’s Managing Director, told Drive, “Six models on the way… It’s models between now and at the end of 2026”.

Additionally, Mahmoud confirmed there will be a cab-chassis variant of the T9 ute coming, which could offer even more affordability in the dual-cab market and challenge the dominance of the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

The KGM SsangYong Musso is the cheapest dual-cab ute that’s currently available in Australia, with the entry-level Musso ELX starting from $37,700. The Musso range tops out with the flagship Musso Ultimate Luxury, which comes with a $46,396 price tag.

The South Korean car maker is currently offering a $7000 runout discount on its Musso dual-cab ute, with the base Musso ELX available from $38,000 drive-away.

Meanwhile, the mid-spec Musso Adventure can be had from $41,500 drive-away. Buyers looking to take advantage of the current offer can expect to pay a minimum of $42,000 for the top-spec Musso Ultimate.

The South Korean car maker offers eight Musso dual-cab variants, and a ninth sibling could soon be making its way to Australia.

While most car makers seem to prioritise plug-in hybrid powertrains for their dual-cab ute offerings, SsangYong is joining the likes of Isuzu by introducing an electric variant of its Musso pick-up.

Though the car maker has confirmed a battery-powered Musso dual-cab ute is on the cards for Australia, its local division has yet to confirm the timing, its price and specs.

However, LDV’s T60 range tops out at the flagship $92,990 electric eT60 dual-cab ute, the first fully electric pick-up truck to launch in Australia.

If you're an ABN holder, you're in luck as LDV is currently offering a $4000 drive-away discount on some of the MY23–MY25 T60 Max range, with an MY23 entry-level T60 Max dual-cab ute available from $36,990 drive-away.

Under LDV's current discount, its dual-cab range tops out at the T60 Max Plus Mega Tub, which can be had for $45,490 if you have an ABN.

The Chinese marque has revamped its T60 line-up in 2025, cutting the range from eight variants to three, while its current iterations are now equipped with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) to align with the mandatory changes to the Australian Design Rules (ADRs).

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

Mazda is no stranger to the ute game, and its sole challenger, the BT-50, is available in 10 different variants that span a vast price range to accommodate most budgets and driving needs.

Pricing kicks off from the BT-50 XT at $48,210 and extends to the range-topping BT-50 SP, which starts from $71,500. As part of its end-of-financial-year sale, Mazda Australia is currently offering drive-away pricing for its BT-50 dual-cab ute.

According to the car maker's website, the base-spec BT-50 XT can be had for $54,990 drive-away, while one grade above sees the BT-50 XTR priced from $62,490.

Additionally, the Mazda BT-50 GT variant is currently on offer from $65,990 drive-away, as is the flagship BT-50 SP, which comes with a $67,990 sticker price. Mazda's EOFY sale is available until stocks last or June 30, 2025, whichever comes first.

It’s worth noting that in January 2025, Mazda made changes to the BT-50 dual-cab ute range, which most notably includes the discontinuation of all manual variants and the axing of the BT-50 Thunder, the flagship model.

However, Vinish Bhindi, Mazda Australia’s Managing Director, previously told Drive the brand is looking to reintroduce the BT-50 Thunder alongside the facelifted version of the dual-cab ute.

Every dual-cab ute under $80K on sale in Australia in 2025

Toyota is no stranger to dominating the dual-cab ute market with the HiLux, and given there are 16 variants available for customers to choose from, it's easy to understand why the Japanese marque has been a consistent top player.

The HiLux range opens with the base-spec HiLux Workmate, which starts from $37,730, while the flagship Toyota HiLux GR Sport also falls under the $80K limit, with the dual-cab ute priced from $74,310.

After a nearly two-year drought, the Toyota HiLux was the top-selling car in April 2025, accruing 4121 sales last month, beating its key rival the Ford Ranger (4031) and the Toyota RAV4 hybrid SUV (3808).

Toyota's local division confirmed a next-generation HiLux is on the horizon, but stopped short of confirming what it looks like and when it will arrive in Australian showrooms.

As previously reported by Drive, spy photos of the next-generation HiLux appear to be a heavily facelifted version rather than a completely new variant with updated underpinnings.
