Following the CLA, the new-generation GLB SUV will be the next Mercedes-Benz model to roll out on its new compact-car platform.
Mercedes-Benz will bring its second-generation GLB SUV to Australian showrooms in the second half of 2026, with a full reveal of the model set for next month.
Few details have been publicised, but Mercedes has confirmed an all-electric GLB – currently known as the EQB – will be offered, as well as five- and seven-seat configurations for the new family SUV.
However, it is likely the new-generation GLB will adopt the latest Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) as seen on the latest CLA, which also means petrol-electric hybrid powertrains could be in the mix.
Mercedes has also confirmed more interior headroom in the new GLB compared to its predecessor, as well as a more easily-accessible third row and a better thermally-insulated panoramic sunroof.
The 2026 GLB will also be equipped with the latest MBUX Superscreen infotainment system displayed across a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14-inch central screen, and a 14-inch display for front occupants.
Mercedes-Benz is keeping the new SUV's exterior styling under wraps – including, in these teasers, a sheet of ice – but has revealed its interior, shown above.
The second-generation GLB is currently undergoing extreme weather testing at the Mercedes Technology Center in Germany, where temperatures can range from -40 to 60 degrees Celsius.
Australian production of the new GLB will move from Mexico to a yet-to-be-revealed facility, as the existing car is built at a joint-venture factory with Nissan that is soon to be shuttered by the Japanese brand.
