The Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron SUVs gain a more advanced AEB system in Australia, while the most-affordable Tiguans get smaller wheels.

Updates for the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan and 2026 Volkswagen Tayron family SUVs have been announced for Australia.
The revised system is now capable of detecting traffic "that is about to turn towards the driver", in addition to the existing detection of oncoming traffic driving straight and turning towards oncoming traffic.
In addition, Tiguan 110TSI Life and Tiguan 110TSI Elegance grades feature smaller 17-inch 'Venezia' and 18-inch 'Napoli' alloy wheels, respectively, replacing the 19-inch 'Catania' wheel design still standard for the 150TSI Elegance.
The brand claims the smaller wheels "further enhance the ride comfort" of the 110TSI grades.
MY26 Tiguan Elegance and R-Line grades also receive illuminated front and rear Volkswagen emblems in Australia.
There are no changes to recommended retail prices (RRPs) for the 2026 Tiguan and 2026 Tayron compared to their 2025 counterparts.
In Australia, the Tiguan and Tayron line-ups will expand with the addition of plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, which are rated with an electric-only driving range of over 100 kilometres on the WLTP lab-test standard.
Earlier this year, Volkswagen Australia said it is considering multiple configurations for the Tiguan and Tayron plug-in hybrids, including Elegance and R-Line grades.
The 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan and 2026 Volkswagen Tayron petrol-only grades are on sale now.
