With upgrades to safety and in-cabin technology, the 2026 Suzuki Jimny three-door is more expensive than ever, starting at $31,990 before on-road costs.
Suzuki’s popular three-door Jimny off-roader will finally be back in Australian showrooms early next year after a hiatus to address new mandated safety equipment, but its return will herald more expensive pricing.
Now positioned at $31,990 before on-road costs for the base Lite manual, the point of entry to the Jimny line-up is now $1500 pricier than before, based on RRPs for the outgoing model listed on industry price guide Redbook.
Similarly, the eponymous Jimny manual and automatic are now positioned at $33,990 and $36,490 respectively, moving up $2000 and $3000 compared to grades the 2026 version replaces.
However, to compensate for the price rise, Suzuki has fitted a more advanced version of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) known as Dual Sensor Brake Support II that complies with the mandatory ADR 98/00 regulation introduced in March this year.
In addition, lane departure prevention, adaptive cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors are now also standard on the three-door Jimny line-up.
Jimny Lite variants also score a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto support – and upgrade over the basic radio/CD player unit with physical buttons – while the Jimny now features a 9.0-inch unit, up from 7.0 inches and matching the five-door Jimny XL.
The remainder of the equipment available in last year’s model is expected to return, including fabric seats, a two-speaker sound system, and six airbags in Lite trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, climate control, and power-folding mirrors in the top-spec Jimny.
Suzuki Australia has not confirmed whether the 2026 Jimny will receive the coloured 4.2-inch digital driver display nestled between analogue gauges as seen in Japan – with a digital speedometer – or if it retains the monochrome unit as before.
Also not confirmed in its release are any changes to the Jimny’s engine, which is expected to carry over its 75kW/130Nm 1.5-litre petrol four-cylinder engine that drives all four wheels via a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
The 2026 Jimny three-door is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms from February next year.
