2026 Subaru Crosstrek price and specs: Improved safety and new colours for dearer small SUV

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek small SUV has received a $1500 price increase across the board, along with new safety technology and a revised exterior colour palette.

Priced from $36,490 before on-road costs, the Crosstrek remains available in three petrol grades, AWD 2.0L, AWD 2.0R and AWD 2.0S, and two hybrids, AWD Hybrid L and AWD Hybrid S.

Subaru has added an emergency stop system to its small SUV for 2026, following its debut in the 2025 Forester, to bring the vehicle to a halt, activate its hazard lights and unlock the doors if the driver becomes unresponsive while cruise control is set.

Additionally, the brand has refined the Crosstrek's colour selection by adding Citron Yellow Pearl and Sand Dune Pearl, and discontinuing Sun Blaze Pearl (orange), Offshore Blue, Oasis Blue and Horizon Blue.

All colours, except Crystal White Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl, now incur a $660 surcharge rather than being a no-cost option.

The Hybrid L and Hybrid S move to a 100kW/182Nm 2.0-litre petrol-electric hybrid system, which gained a petrol particulate filter (PPF) in mid-2025, reducing outputs from 110kW and 196Nm.

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres for the petrol and 6.5L/100km for the hybrid.

A 1400-kilogram braked towing capacity is listed for petrol grades, and 1270 kilograms for the hybrids.

Standard features in the Crosstrek 2.0L and Hybrid L include 17-inch alloy wheels, an 11.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch multi-information display, black cloth upholstery, dual-zone climate-control, a wireless smartphone charger, and rain-sensing wipers.

The AWD 2.0R adds 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlights, a surround-view camera, 'premium' cloth upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter.

Above the 2.0R, the AWD 2.0S and Hybrid S gain a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a glass sunroof, leather-look upholstery and satellite navigation.
