There’s nothing like taking a stroll around the block on a warm summer evening to see twinkling lights adorning the homes of your neighbours.
But what if you’re looking for more – more light, more colour, more Santa? Well, unless you live in one of the streets below, the only way might just be to hop in the car and take a drive to one of your city’s top streets for Christmas lights.
We’ve hunted through the Christmas Lights Search website to find some of the streets around Australia with the best displays in 2025.
Best Christmas light streets in Sydney
The display at number 28 Hixson Street has been chosen as one of the best in Sydney by the Christmas Lights Search team.
"For 25 years, our family has been lighting up the neighbourhood with our Christmas display — and this year is our biggest one yet," the homeowners wrote on their listing on the site.
"We’ve gone above and beyond, decorating the entire house from top to bottom to spread some extra festive cheer. Our display features: A massive inflatable Santa that’s impossible to miss, heaps of snow machines filling the yard with magical falling snow, a large, beautifully lit nativity set and loads of new inflatables, lights and features added for 2025. We’ve poured our heart into creating a fun and memorable Christmas experience for families, kids, and everyone who loves the festive season."
The home-owners at number 7 have gone all out with a "massive" display to support the Shine for Autism charity. There will also be a special visit from Santa and The Grinch on Christmas Eve.
Regentville Road, Glenmore Park
Featuring more than 20,000 lights, the display at number 17 no doubt earns its place as one of the best in Sydney.
Best Christmas light streets in Melbourne
Robyn Court, Hampton Park
Making the best display list in Melbourne is the house at number 11, with about 139,000 lights and a host of photo opportunities.
The folks at number 63 decorate their home each year to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).
"Join us as we light up the streets and spread holiday cheer while raising funds and awareness for the NBCF," their listing on Christmas Lights Search states.
"Over the past years, our incredible community has helped us raise nearly $70,000 for this fantastic cause."
Shaftsbury Street, Coburg
The owners of number 29 have gone all out with an animated display featuring some well-loved characters.
Best Christmas light streets in Brisbane
The house at number 48 makes the list of Brisbane's top displays, and features Olaf from Frozen on the roof.
Minimine Street, Stafford
The folks at number 27 have a sparkling display and a bunch of characters making appearances.
"This year, Bluey and Bingo have joined the fun for the ultimate family photo, and the Grinch has snuck in with his own mischievous wall that’s guaranteed to steal a few laughs (not your presents)," their Christmas Lights Search listing states.
Best Christmas light streets in Adelaide
Sylvan Circuit, Noarlunga Downs
A gingerbread village has been created at number 22, earning it a spot in Adelaide's top displays of 2025.
Bechervaise Court, Greenwith
The home at number 6 has a "very colourful" display featuring Santa, snowmen and even Bluey.
Best Christmas light streets in Perth
Aromatic Crescent, Atwell
The house at number 6 makes the list of Perth's top displays, and this year the owners are raising money for the Starlight Children's Foundation.
The entire street gets involved in the Christmas-decorating fun, and it's earned it a spot in Perth's top-display list for 2025. The residents are raising money for Wheelchairs for Kids charity.
Best Christmas light streets in Canberra
Multiple houses on this street have made Canberra's top display list, according to Christmas Lights Search.
"There is so much Christmas spirit throughout our street in December," the listing states.
Best Christmas light streets in Hobart
Molle Street, West Hobart
The residents of number 121 have decked the halls and made the list of Hobart's top displays.
"My display is large and bright! It has everything from moving reindeers, to a Ferris wheel, to giant inflatables and a moving carousel," the listing states.
Best Christmas light streets in Darwin
Gabriella Street, Bellamack
Displays are not plentiful in the NT's capital (at least not according to Christmas Light Search), but the owners of number 11 Gabriella Street Bellamack have gone all out.
