The 2026 Nissan Navara is weeks away from Australia as a near-identical twin to the Mitsubishi Triton.

Here is how the new-generation 'D27' Navara differs from the related ‘MV’ Triton.

The Navara gets a new front-end design, different alloy wheels, unique tail-light internals, and new seat upholstery for flagship grades.

Under the skin, it has suspension dampers tuned and developed in Australia by Premcar, who will also build a new version of the beefed-up Pro-4X Warrior in the future.

Starting from $53,348 before on-road costs, the Navara is not available in single- or space-cab configurations, nor with a cab-chassis tray or a manual transmission – all of which are offered in the Triton.

As a result, the Navara range has been slimmed to four variants, while the Triton is offered in 22 configurations, starting from $34,740 for the two-wheel-drive GLX single-cab cab-chassis manual.

The Navara is offered in SL, ST, ST-X and Pro-4X grades, which align with the Triton’s GLX, GLX+, GLS and GSR, respectively.

Prices for the Navara are between $1908 and $3828 higher than those of an equivalent Triton, but all grades include additional standard features.

Note: All prices above exclude on-road costs. The Mitsubishi Triton is also available in single- or space-cab configurations, as well as with a cab-chassis tray and/or a manual transmission.

2026 Nissan Navara SL vs 2026 Mitsubishi Triton GLX

The Navara SL is a match for the entry-level Triton GLX, which costs $51,440 in its dual-cab pick-up 4x4 automatic configuration – $1908 less than the Nissan.

Compared to the Triton GLX, the Navara SL adds a rear differential lock, LED headlights and tail-lights, DAB+ digital radio, and tailgate damping struts.

The new-generation 'D27' Navara SL and ST lose two speakers over their 'D23' predecessors – now four, instead of six – along with dedicated rear air vents, which have been replaced by a roof-mounted air circulation system.

The outgoing Navara's coil-sprung rear suspension, fitted to variants with a tub, has been replaced by leaf springs in the new-generation model, with a heavy-duty configuration for the SL and ST, a road-focused tune for the ST-X, and an off-road-focused tune for the Pro-4X.

2026 Mitsubishi Triton GLX+

The biggest specification differences between the Navara and Triton are in their ST and GLX+ grades, respectively.

Priced from $53,348 – $1908 more than the Triton GLX+ – the ST features heated and power-folding side mirrors with LED indicators, 'boulder grey' mirror caps and exterior door handles, a synthetic leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and carpet flooring.

Equivalent additions over their respective base grades include 17-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass, rear USB-C charging ports, side steps, and front fog lamps.

Compared to the $59,840 Triton GLS, the $63,177 Navara ST-X adds MyNissan Navara telematics, a sports bar, black synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver's seat.

Ticking the $1500 Leather Pack for the Triton GLS – taking it to $61,340 – adds synthetic leather trim, heated front seats and power-adjustable driver's seat, at $1837 less than the Navara ST-X, and without the sports bar and built-in telematics.

Over the Navara ST and Triton GLX+, the ST-X and GLS both add 18-inch alloy wheels, a tub liner, and an upgraded four-wheel-drive system capable of driving in 4WD on sealed roads and with selectable terrain modes (Normal, Eco, Gravel, Snow, Mud, Sand and Rock).

They also include dual-zone climate control air conditioning, hill descent control, keyless entry and push-button start, and a six-speaker audio system.

2026 Nissan Navara Pro-4X and 2026 Mitsubishi Triton GSR

2026 Nissan Navara Pro-4X vs 2026 Mitsubishi Triton GSR

The largest pricing difference between equivalent Navara and Triton grades is the flagship Pro-4X and GSR, respectively, at $68,418 before on-road costs for the Nissan and $64,590 for the Mitsubishi – $3828 in the Mitsubishi's favour.

A tow bar is standard equipment on the Navara Pro-4X but optional on the Triton GSR, where it is available as a $1551 genuine accessory, including fitment costs.

It moves to 17-inch black alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres – down from the Navara ST-X's 18-inch wheels – while the Triton GSR has 18-inch black alloy wheels and highway-terrain tyres.

The range-topping Navara also includes red accents inside and out, along with suede seat bolsters and Pro-4X embroidered on its front seats and centre console lid, while the Triton GSR has black synthetic leather with more subtle orange accent stitching.

Until March 31, 2026, unless extended, the Triton GSR is available for $61,990 drive-away for private buyers – or $61,090 for business customers – and with a dealer-fitted tonneau cover and tow bar kit from $65,990 ($65,090 with an ABN).

By comparison, Nissan is not offering drive-away pricing for the new Navara, but customers will receive $2500 worth of genuine accessories, and a $2500 loyalty bonus for current Nissan owners, if they order by the end of February.

For customers who wish to service their ute independently, the Navara reverts to a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, while the Triton moves to the brand's standard five-year/100,000-kilometre coverage.

Both brands offer up to 10 years of roadside assistance – aligned with their conditional warranties – with 12 months of coverage that is extended with each dealer service.
