MG has revealed a new flagship electric and hybrid sedan with Porsche Taycan look-alike styling, the 07, expected in Chinese showrooms by the end of this year.

Plans for Australia are yet to be confirmed, though if other MG electric cars are a guide, it may be at least 12 to 18 months from local showrooms.

Overseas reports speculate the MG 07 will be priced from less than 200,000 Chinese yuan, undercutting a Tesla Model 3 RWD, which lists for 235,500 yuan, or $54,900 plus on-road costs in Australia.

MG has released images of the exterior of its new sedan, which is reminiscent of a Taycan and Chinese look-alikes from Xiaomi and MG's parent company SAIC, with C-shaped LED headlights, sporty bumpers, and flush door handles.

The MG 07 appears to be a sedan, rather than a liftback, with a LiDAR sensor on the roof, due to guide the Momenta R7 semi-autonomous driving system on higher-grade models.

It is claimed to “possess physical scene understanding and predictive reasoning similar to an experienced driver,” according to an MG statement reported by Carscoops.

MG has reportedly confirmed the 07 will ride on a new-generation platform, and offer plug-in hybrid and battery-electric versions.

Precise specifications are yet to be confirmed, but more information is expected to be announced over the coming months, as the MG 07 nears its launch.
