Audi Australia has decided not to launch the A6 e-tron electric sedan due to "limited demand" for large luxury EVs and price sensitivities.

The 2026 Audi A6 e-tron and 2026 Audi S6 e-tron electric sedans will not launch in Australia, the brand has confirmed.

"This decision reflects a combination of factors, including limited demand in the large luxury EV sedan segment," Audi Australia said in a media statement.

"Price sensitivity is strong within electrified segments here, with volume centred around incentivised price points such as the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold.

"As always, our priority is bringing vehicles to market that resonate with Australian drivers in terms of innovation, premium appointment, drive experience, and performance.

"Australia is a unique and discerning market, and while the A6 and S6 e-tron are exceptional vehicles, we understand that these may not complement our current e-tron range locally at this time.

"We’ll continue to monitor market conditions and remain open to future opportunities as the EV landscape evolves."

The A6 e-tron was initially slated for an Australian launch in the first half of 2025, however, local showroom arrivals had been delayed.

It was expected to be offered as a Sportback liftback and Avant wagon, with a long-range, rear-wheel-drive Performance variant and the dual-motor, all-wheel-drive S6.

The A6 e-tron is based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) electric-car architecture shared with the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan SUVs.

Audi Australia is also yet to confirm the new-generation, petrol-engined A6 sedan for local showrooms, which is related to the latest-generation A5 and Q5.

If the petrol A6 sedan comes to Australia, it is unlikely to be accompanied by the standard A6 Avant wagon – using history is a guide – but the RS6 Avant is expected to continue in new-generation guise, given the success of earlier models.
