Volkswagen has slashed the price on select variants in the Amarok ute range by up to $9000 as the company prepares to boost sales before the end of the financial year.
Volkswagen Australia has announced discounted drive-away pricing deals on entry grade and flagship models of the Amarok 4x4 ute range. Announcing an end of financial year offer set to run throughout May and June.
Offered on the entry-level Amarok Core, and the two top models in the range, the Amarok Panamericana and Amarok Aventura, the drive-way offers result in pricing that undercuts the regular retail price of each model before on-road costs.
The discounted range starts with the Volkswagen Amarok TDI405 Core 4x4 dual-cab with a $53,990 drive-away pricing offer that undercuts that ute’s regular $55,490 pricing before on-road costs. Volkswagen claims that for buyers with a Sydney metropolitan postcode, the savings add up to a discount of more than $6000.
As the entry point to the range the Amarok Core is powered by a 2.0-litre single-turbo diesel engine rated at 125kW and 405Nm. It comes standard with four-wheel-drive, a six-speed automatic, and pick-up body style.
Competitors include entry-level utes like the Toyota HiLux Workmate 4x4, priced from $46,665 plus on-road costs or $57,744 drive-away with a Sydney 2000 postcode, with a 2.4-litre 110kW/400Nm turbo-diesel engine, six-speed automatic, and cab-chassis body with aluminium tray.
The Amarok’s twin under the skin, the Ford Ranger XL uses the same engine and transmission as the Amarok, and in dual-cab 4x4 guise starts from $50,880 plus on-road costs, or $57,562 drive-away in Sydney with a matching pick-up body.
Higher up the range the Amarok Panamericana V6 offers a $76,990 drive-away deal, undercutting the regular $78,990 plus on-road costs pricing, and resulting in a retail saving of over $8000 compared to the regular price with on-road costs included.
The range-topping Amarok Aventura also receives a $79,990 drive-away deal on both diesel V6 and petrol four-cylinder models. The Aventura price offer undercuts regular pricing by $3000, with Volkswagen claiming a saving of over $9000 compared to the pre-offer on-road pricing.
The Amarok Panamericana and Aventura are powered by a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 producing 184kW and 600Nm, with a 10-speed automatic and a 4x4 system that includes an auto mode for use on sealed surfaces. The Aventura is optionally available with a 2.3-litre turbo-petrol engine rated at 222kW and 452Nm.
These two models are still more expensive than the drive-way pricing offers available on utes like the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain ($68,990 drive-away) and related Mazda BT-50 SP ($67,990 drive-away), but neither offers six-cylinder power, not road-suitable 4x4. A Ford Ranger Wildtrak V6 costs $74,840 before on-road costs or $82,239 drive-away in Sydney, while a Toyota HiLux GR Sport starts from $74,310 plus on-road costs, or $81,393 drive-away in Sydney.
Volkswagen’s drive-away pricing applies to Model Year 2024 models (MY24) which Volkswagen uses to identify all current stock (including 2025-built vehicles) with the drive-away pricing applicable from May 1, 2025 until June 30, 2025.
