The updated Kia Stonic city SUV has arrived in Australia, introducing a mild-hybrid system, revised styling, and new features, but with price rises.
- 2026 Kia Stonic pricing and specifications
- Revised design inside and out, with more standard features, but price rises
- Mild-hybrid system added to cut fuel use and CO2 emissions output
- Priced from $28,180 before on-road costs
An update for Kia's smallest SUV in Australia, the Stonic, has arrived in local showrooms with a revised design, new technology and a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
Recommended retail pricing for the 2026 Kia Stonic has increased between $2020 and $3260, while national drive-away prices are up between $2100 and $3400.
The Stonic now starts from $28,180 before on-road costs, or $30,890 drive-away, for the entry-level S grade, which gains larger alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, multi-collision braking, an electronic parking brake, centre console storage and a rear parcel shelf.
All grades feature a carryover 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system added for 2026 to cut fuel use and CO2 emissions.
It has also seen peak power increase from 74kW to 88kW at 6000rpm, while torque remains at 172Nm.
Combined fuel consumption has decreased from 5.4L/100km to 5.0L/100km, and CO2 emissions from 125g/km to 116g/km, with its electric starter-generatior assisting the petrol engine, but it cannot power the wheels on electric power alone.
The Stonic Sport and GT-Line receive a larger 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, from eight inches, and add Kia Connect telematics for automatic emergency calls and controlling vehicle functions remotely.
They can also receive over-the-air software updates, but run older infotainment software than other Kia vehicles, such as the K4, Sportage, Sorento and Tasman.
It means the Stonic Sport and GT-Line revert to wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as when combined with built-in satellite navigation, Kia's older system does not support wireless smartphone connectivity.
Compared to its 2025 predecessor, other new features for the 2026 Stonic Sport include black cloth and artificial leather upholstery, enhanced autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with junction-turning detection, adaptive cruise control, and LED front fog lights.
The GT-Line – priced from $35,740 RRP or $37,990 drive-away – gains a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a heated steering wheel, configurable ambient lighting and a wireless smartphone charger with a cooling fan.
