MG has announced an April arrival date for the upcoming MG 4 Urban electric vehicle, planned to offer two battery capacities and prices in the region of its main rival, the $29,990 BYD Dolphin.
The front-wheel-drive MG 4 can be optioned with a 43kWh standard-range battery or a 54kWh extended-range offering.
UK specifications indicate the standard-range battery version will be paired to a single 110kW electric motor for a 323km driving range rating based on WLTP testing, while the extended variants are slated to quote 118kW and up to 415km of range.
It will be offered with DC fast charging, claimed to replenish between 10 and 80 per cent of the battery's capacity in 30 minutes when using a 150kW plug, while standard 11kW AC charging is also available.
The model is already on sale in Europe and the UK, and is expected to carry over similar specifications to its Australian models.
The interior of the MG 4 Urban will feature a 7.0-inch instrument cluster and a central 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, joined by physical buttons and dials for climate control and volume.
Higher grades add wireless phone charging and replace the standard reversing camera with a 360-degree parking camera, among other features.
All grades receive adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane-keep assist with departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, a driver monitoring system, blind-spot monitoring, forward and rear collision warnings, and rear cross-traffic alert.
It will be offered with MG's 10-year warranty, which requires the vehicle to be serviced within the brand's dealer network for the full decade.
Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but is expected closer to its April arrival date.
