With no known plans for a replacement model, the dwindling supply of the current Suzuki Swift Sport could represent the "end of the line" for the lovable hot hatch.
The future is unclear for the turbocharged Suzuki Swift Sport hot hatch, without any details of a next-generation model following on from the current Swift Hybrid.
Michael Pachota, General Manager for Suzuki Australia, described the current supply of Swift Sports in Australia as being the “end of the road”, along with the Suzuki Ignis light SUV.
"There are some (examples in dealerships) around, but we are starting to run out of colours. I think yellow is gone." Pachota continued.
When questioned as to why the Suzuki Swift Sport could be facing the axe, Pachota clarified further:
“I don’t think they have axed it altogether. I’m not sure, it hasn’t been confirmed.”
“With the last Swift Sport example, they launched the Swift first, and then launched the Swift Sport at a later date.” Pachota continued.
“There is still time (if there was another Swift Sport coming), but at the moment they haven’t informed us of current plans.”
The new-generation 2025 Suzuki Swift Hybrid mainstream model uses a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine, which has a 12V mild hybrid assistance and develops 61kW and 112Nm.
The current Suzuki Swift Sport, which is still available in limited numbers in Australia, is powered by Suzuki’s ‘BoosterJet’ 103kW/230Nm 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, with front-wheel drive and either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
