MG Australia has cut up to $14,000 from its ZS EV small electric SUV to clear final stock built in 2023 before its rear-wheel-drive S5 successor arrives.
Electric Cars
Prices for the MG ZS EV small electric SUV have been slashed in Australia to clear final stock manufactured in 2023.
The MG ZS EV Essence and Long Range variants are now available for $36,888 drive-away, making it the most-affordable new electric SUV currently available in Australia – though the Chery Omoda E5 costs $36,990 before on-road costs with a 2024 or 2025 build date.
MG Australia said the run-out offer extends the "exclusive fleet pricing" for the ZS EV to private customers, with limited stock available in run-out ahead of the arrival of its new-generation MG S5 successor.
Its MG S5 successor is due in local showrooms in the coming months based on the rear-wheel-drive 'MSP' electric-car architecture shared with the MG 4 hatch and Cyberster convertible.
The recommended retail prices of these ZS EV models before on-road costs are $41,990 for the Essence and $46,990 for the Long Range following a price cut in mid-2024, with the current run-out prices representing savings between $8500 and $13,750 over their recommended drive-away pricing at full cost.
Production of the ZS EV Essence and Long Range ended for the Australian market at the end of 2023 – with final stock arriving in 2024 – following the discontinuation of the base Excite variant in mid-2023, less than a year after its introduction.
While the Essence and Long Range are being offered at the same price in run-out, the Long Range adds a larger 72.6kWh battery rated for a 440-kilometre driving range on the European WLTP lab-test standard, compared to the 51.1kWh unit in the Essence for a 320-kilometre range.
Standard equipment in the ZS EV includes 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, rain-sensing wipers, and a 360-degree camera.
The Long Range also gains heated front seats, while its front electric motor is detuned from 130kW/280Nm to 115kW/280Nm.
All new MG ZS EV models purchased since August 1, 2024, are covered by a 10-year/250,000-kilometre warranty for vehicles not deemed to be "commercial use", including the high-voltage battery, with the commercial-use warranty remaining at seven years and 160,000 kilometres.
