Mercedes-Benz has announced its compact models, including A-Class, CLA, GLA, and GLB will be made available with a value-added Special Edition package.

All models feature the Night Package design option, which swaps out different exterior trim elements on the vehicle from chrome to black, depending on the model.

The A-Class and CLA come equipped with 19–inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, while the GLA and GLB get 20-inch alloy wheels in a 10-spoke design.

The Special Edition package applies to 200 and 250 badged models, so A200, A250, GLB200, GLB250, etc.

The 250 models are normally equipped with a panoramic sunroof, but the 200 versions gain a panoramic roof as part of the package.

All Special Edition vehicles are available with Alpine Grey solid paint, from the Mercedes-Benz Manufaktur individualisation palette – offered for the first time on the compact line-up.

Other regular metallic and Manufaktur shades are available at no extra cost.

Interior finishes include grey seatbelts and grey topstitching for the seats. The GLA Special Editions are equipped with aluminium interior decor trims, while the GLB Special Edition uses carbon-look trim panels.

Mercedes-Benz claims the Special Edition extras add up to $4800 of equipment, depending on the version, with no change to the list price of the Special Edition models compared to their regular equivalents.

Mechanically, the Special Edition models are unchanged with the A200, CLA200, GLA200 and GLB200 powered by a 120kW/270Nm 1.3-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and front-wheel drive.

The 250 models step up to a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine producing 165kW/50Nm and mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic with all-wheel drive.
