Porsche has expanded the Cayenne Electric large SUV line-up with the S variant, positioned between the existing entry-level and Turbo electric models, due to commence deliveries later this year.

The Cayenne S produces up to 490kW in its launch mode, or 400kW in normal driving, and is claimed to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds.

It compares to 325kW in launch control for the entry-level Cayenne Electric, and up to 850kW in the Cayenne Turbo Electric, for 0-100km/h in the latter in a claimed 2.5 seconds.

The S uses dual electric motors, one on each axle, and a 113kWh battery it shares with the other electric Cayenne models for a quoted WLTP range of up to 653km.

The battery is compatible with 400kW DC fast charging, and can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent charge in a claimed 19 minutes.

The Cayenne S Electric can be distinguished by model-specific front and rear bumper accents, painted in Volcano Grey Metallic, with body-coloured inserts and diffusers, and 20-inch aero wheels.

Options previously exclusive to the Turbo are available on the Cayenne S, such as Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, advanced Porsche Active Ride suspension, and carbon-ceramic brakes with yellow calipers.

Outside of launch control, the full 490kW power output is available in 10-second bursts through a push-to-pass function – technology also offered on other model grades.

Compared to models sold overseas, the Australian-delivered Cayenne S will be equipped with a tyre fit set, privacy glass, automatic parking, digital radio, 14-way electrically-adjustable and ventilated front seats, Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and four-zone climate control.

The Cayenne S can be configured with 13 exterior colours and various interior colour packages.

The new 2026 Porsche Cayenne S electric SUV is available to order now, and is expected to arrive in showrooms locally from July onwards, priced from $193,100 before on-road costs and options.
