The reborn Melbourne Motor Show is returning for its second year with 20 new-car brands and more than 40 aftermarket exhibitors locked-in for the event.

Held between Friday, 10 April and Sunday, 12 April, 2026, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the biggest confirmed brands at this year's show include BYD, GWM, Honda, Isuzu Ute, Kia, MG, Tesla, Volkswagen and Zeekr.

While Mercedes-Benz will not be officially represented, its Melbourne dealership will have a vehicle exhibit, according to show organisers.

MG Motor Australia told Drive the new MG 4 Urban electric hatchback will make its public debut at the Melbourne show, while it also hinted at other new models, including a "next step" for its MG U9 ute.

The brand's activities will include a "sneak preview" of a new medium SUV, likely to be the Australian confirmation of the MG S6 EV already sold in Europe, and a "local teaser of the next step" of the MG U9, potentially referring to a plug-in hybrid or all-electric variant.

"The next big thing" from MG's luxury IM sub-brand "internationally" will also be teased at the show, possibly a new model such as the full-size IM9 range-extender SUV or the facelifted IM6 EV.

Tesla and Renault were unable to confirm what they plan to display, but their newest models, including the Tesla Model Y L and Renault Scenic E-Tech, are likely to be shown.

Drive contacted BYD Australia and Volkswagen Group Australia representatives to confirm which BYD, Denza, Volkswagen and Skoda models will be displayed, but did not receive a response.

Familiar models, such as the Kia Tasman, Isuzu D-Max, Isuzu MU-X, Zeekr 7X and various GWM vehicles, will also be available for attendees to get their hands on.

The team of Drive journalists will be at the event all weekend to answer your questions about the new models on display and to provide advice on off-roaders, electric cars, family cars, and more.

At least 40 aftermarket exhibitors, as well as the Harley Davidson and Savic motorcycle brands, will also be present at the show.

Among these will be Universal Studios with a Fast & Furious 25th Anniversary Exhibition featuring cars from the movie franchise, along with merchandise available for purchase.

A Hot Wheels Activation Zone will include an "interactive race track and gaming zone, mini cinema and limited edition collectibles, with a guest appearance from legendary Hot Wheels designer Phil Riehlman," show organisers said.

Compared with last year's inaugural event, floor space has been doubled, and around 100 vehicles will be available to test drive, "including EVs, hybrids, and traditional ICE vehicles."

Tickets are available on the Melbourne Motor Show website, costing $37.50 for general admission and $99.00 for a two-adult, two-child family pass.
