A $4000 price increase is accompanied by the introduction of advanced safety systems and boosted equipment in 2026 Mahindra Scorpio.

Mahindra’s Scorpio will return to sale this month with a price increase and upgraded safety to comply with new Australian design rules (ADRs) introduced back in march.
Now featuring Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as well as ventilated front seats, and an electronic park brake, the 2026 Scorpio will only be available in the top-spec Z8L+ form that is $2000 pricier than last year’s Z8L.
Positioned at $48,990 drive-away, the Scorpio Z8L+ is still one of the most affordable diesel-powered, 4x4 seven-seat SUVs in Australia undercutting the Ford Everest (from $58,990 before on-road costs and optional third row) and Isuzu MU-X (from $55,900).
The added ADAS systems include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-moving vehicle alert, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane centring, traffic sign recognition, forward collision warning, and adaptive high beams.
ANCAP awarded the Mahindra Scorpio a zero-star overall score in 2023 when it first launched, with zero points awarded in the safety assist assessment.
It is unclear if ANCAP will reassess the new Scorpio, or update its safety rating, with the latest update.
Aside from these changes, the Scorpio carries over the same 129kW/400Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine from before, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission with low range and a rear-locking differential.
As an off-road-focused SUV, the 2026 Scorpio Z8L+ is also equipped with selectable terrain modes, hill decent control, hill hold control, and tyre pressure monitor.
Standard equipment includes a sunroof, cooled glove box, power-folding side mirrors, dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, wireless smartphone charger, leather interior, 18-inch wheels, and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay functionality.
The 2026 Mahindra Scorpio will arrive in local showrooms from December.
