New technology and an expanded hybrid line-up for the Japanese ZR-V are expected to come to Australia later this year.
Honda has revealed an updated ZR-V in Japan, with revised styling and updated technology, expected to reach Australia in the coming months.
The ZR-V has gone hybrid only in Japan, but it is unclear if Honda Australia will follow when an updated range arrives in the coming weeks with an all-wheel-drive hybrid option for the first time.
The Japanese model receives a new trim grade, updated standard features, new wheel designs, updated interior styling, and fresh colours added for 2026.
It will offer new Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, and Seabed Blue Pearl colours, a fresh 18-inch alloy wheel design, and a revised grille.
Carryover features include a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12-speaker sound system, heated and power-adjustable leather seats, and a 360-degree camera.
The Japanese-market Black Style variant uses the Z grade as a base, but adds a black honeycomb front grille design, black 18-inch wheels, black exterior accents, and a darker interior.
New to Japan is the ZR-V Cross Touring, which is fitted with the grille and front bumper design from the US model, and aims to be more outdoor-focused, with skid plates, protective cladding on the bottom of the doors, side sills, and 18-inch matte wheels.
It will be available in the model-exclusive Desert Beige Pearl paint finish, with beige leather and orange stitching inside.
For 2026, hybrid power will be the only choice for the ZR-V in Japan – as Toyota has done in Australia with most of its passenger and SUV models – but with a choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
The hybrid powertrain produces a combined 135kW and 315Nm from a 2.0-litre petrol engine and two electric motors.
Honda Australia has previously confirmed a "minor model update" to the ZR-V in the first quarter of 2026 (January to March), adding Google built-in tech and an all-wheel-drive-hybrid option.
It will also expand hybrid variants to cheaper model grades in the line-up.
It has not yet been confirmed how much the updated ZR-V will cost; the 2025 ZR-V e:HEV LX hybrid is currently listed at $54,900 drive-away.
