The Geely Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid family SUV is due to start below $40,000 when it arrives in Australia later this year, leaked RRPs indicate.
Australian prices for the 2026 Geely Starray EM-i – a plug-in hybrid family SUV related to the all-electric EX5 – have leaked in an industry RRP guide ahead of its local launch by the end of the year.
Priced from $39,990 before on-road costs, the Starray EM-i won't be Australia's cheapest plug-in hybrid, with that title held by the $39,990 drive-away Chery Tiggo 7 Super Hybrid.
When contacted by Drive, a Geely Australia spokesperson could not verify the pricing, which was published on the industry database Redbook, with an "official announcement" due in September.
“Our top priority is to provide real value to our customers, not just with compelling pricing, but also through our ownership experience," the spokesperson said.
Earlier this week, Geely confirmed standard specifications for the Starray EM-i – also known as the Starship 7 overseas – which will be offered in Australia in two variants: Complete and Inspire.
The entry-level Complete includes 18-inch alloy wheels, a 15.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, connected services, six speakers, leather-accented upholstery, heated front seats, and a full suite of active safety features.
Wireless Android Auto will not be available at launch, but it will become available as an over-the-air software update scheduled to launch between January and March 2026, Geely Australia claims.
The Inspire adds 19-inch alloy wheels, an electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, front parking sensors, a rear-centre armrest, a head-up display, a 16-speaker Flyme Sound audio system, and more.
Under the bonnet, the front-wheel-drive-only Starray EM-i features a 73kW/125Nm 1.5-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine matched to a 160kW/262Nm electric motor equivalent to the electric EX5 on power, but down on torque.
It has an 18.4kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, delivering a WLTP-rated 83km claimed electric-only driving range, with a combined range of 943km.
Combined fuel consumption is rated at 2.4 litres per 100 kilometres, and the Starray EM-i requires 95RON premium unleaded.
Measuring 4740mm long, 1905mm wide and 1685mm tall, with a 2755mm wheelbase, the Starray EM-i is 125mm longer overall, 15mm taller and 4mm wider than the EX5, with a 5mm longer wheelbase.
A $1000 discount is available for customers who pre-order the Starray EM-i with a $1000 deposit.
The 2026 Geely Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid will arrive in Australian showrooms by the end of the year.
