The first official pictures of the 2025 Zeekr 9X flagship luxury SUV have been released ahead of its public debut at the Shanghai motor show.
With its design reminiscent of luxury marques – including chrome detailing and imposing grille similar to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan – the Zeekr 9X will be sold with a battery electric powertrain while a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version will also be available according to Car News China.
It has not been confirmed for Australian showrooms, with Zeekr currently offering the 009 people-mover and the X SUV in local showrooms, but the Chinese brand is looking to bulk out its local portfolio.
Measuring 5290mm long – longer than a Toyota Landcruiser or Range Rover Sport – with a 3220mm wheelbase, the 9X is a full-sized SUV with six or seven seats in standard models, with an ultra-luxury spec offering only four spaced-out chairs with ‘executive style’ seating.
Closely related to the Lynk & Co 900 SUV – with Zeekr also owned by Lynk & Co parent company Geely – the 9X boasts 900V architecture with a 480kW ultra-fast charging rate.
Using the latest tech from battery giant CATL, the X9’s rapid charging enables 500km of range from a 10-minute recharge.
It has not disclosed the total range for the battery electric version but has said it can accelerate from 0-100km/h in around 3.0 seconds.
The plug-in hybrid X9 will be the first to use Zeekr’s Super Hybrid technology which will see a 2.0-litre petrol four-cylinder engine and a pair of electric motors for a range of up to 1500km.
The Super Hybrid system is the name given to the Zeekr hybrid arrangement designed to maximise thermal efficiency of the internal combustion engine and overall fuel economy.
It’s closely related to Geely’s Leishen EM-i system revealed in 2024, but is not available on any vehicles sold in Australia.
The Zeekr X9 will also be the brand’s first vehicle to include its ‘G-Pilot intelligent driving solution’ Level 3 autonomous vehicle tech.
Using an NVIDA chip, Car News China reports the system uses ZEEA 3.0 central computing architecture for a 50 per cent faster response speed and uses five Lidars to provide “four layers of 360-degree perception capabilities”.
Pricing in China is anticipated to stretch from ¥500,000 ($AU107,167) – around half the starting price of a (petrol) Range Rover Sport in China – to ¥1 million ($AU214,333) for a ‘Grand Edition’ version.
Full details of the 2025 Zeekr 9X are expected at the Shanghai Auto Show beginning 23 April 2025.
