The software issue could result in its headlights causing excessive glare to other road users, according to the recall notice.
Volkswagen Australia has recalled nine examples of its 2025 Volkswagen Transporter, citing a potential software fault with their low- and high-beam headlights.
The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sport and the Arts, says: "Due to a software issue, the headlamp low/high beam may not have been adjusted according to specifications.
"As a result, the headlamps could cause excessive glare to oncoming traffic or other road users.
"Excessive glare to oncoming traffic could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users."
A full list of vehicle identification numbers for the nine vehicles involved in the recall can be found here.
Volkswagen Australia advises it will contact owners of affected vehicles to have the software updated at their nearest dealership, free of charge.
