MG's popular small electric car is set to see price increases from next month, as an updated model due early next year looms.
Price rises have been announced for the 2025 MG 4 from next month, which will see the company's smallest electric car start from $37,990 drive-away.
Buyers can take advantage of the current drive-away offers – which are $1000 to $3000 lower – until June 30, after which MG says "prices are firm and will not be reduced further".
The July 1 entry price of $37,990 drive-away for the base Excite 51 is well up from the car's low point of $30,990 drive-away late last year, but down on its original price two years ago of more than $40,000.
The new prices are described as applying to Model Year 2025 (MY25) stock, compared to MY24 for the pre-July figures. Drive has contacted MG to determine if MY24 stock will adopt the new prices from July 1.
MG has confirmed there are no specification differences between MY24 and MY25 MG 4s.
MY25 may prove to be the last model year before a facelift arrives for the MG 4 early next year, adding a revamped interior and smaller changes to the exterior to keep the model fresh.
About 1700 MG 4s were reported as sold over the first four months of 2025, down 6.2 per cent on the prior year.
