BMW Australia has added mid-spec 120 and 220 variants to its new-generation 1 Series hatch and 2 Series Gran Coupe range with a turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.
The 2025 BMW 1 Series hatch and 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe line-ups have expanded in Australia with the addition of mid-spec variants.
BMW Australia has confirmed the addition of the four-cylinder turbocharged 120 and 220 to its local line-up, which will join the three-cylinder 118 and 218, along with the M135 xDrive and M235 xDrive.
It follows the local launch of the new-generation BMW 1 Series hatch in late 2024, while 218 and M135 versions of the new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – the sedan version of the 1 Series – are due to arrive "in the coming weeks".
The first customer deliveries of the mid-spec 120 and 220 will commence in Australia in mid-2025, along with an update to the entire 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupe range from March 2025 production with an illuminated 'Iconic Glow' grille as standard.
BMW claims a 7.2-second 0-100km/h acceleration time for the 120 hatch and 7.3 seconds for the 220 Gran Coupe sedan.
The 120 is priced from $60,600 before on-road costs, while the 220 costs $62,900, a $3000 premium over the entry-level 118 and 218.
Standard equipment for the 120 and 220 Gran Coupe mirrors the 118 and 218 Gran Coupe, with these variants also available with two option packages: the Enhancement Package ($6500 for 1 Series, $6700 for 2 Series) and the M Sport Package Pro ($3200 for 1 Series and 2 Series).
