The latest look at the dashboard of the new HiLux reveals a look closer to that of the RAV4 rather than Toyota’s more rugged off-roaders.

A leaked image of the instrument panel believed to be from the 2026 Toyota HiLux offers a revealing look at what to expect from the new ute when it is officially unveiled.

Posted to the Kurdistan Automotive Blog Instagram account, the image shows the main structure of the new HiLux dash.

The infotainment system and air vents are in place, but the instrument cluster, lower trims, and some decor panels are still missing.

Although the source of the image is unknown, it’s possible that it could have come from a component supplier or internally from within Toyota.

The two-tone dash, with burgundy upper and lower trim surrounding a dark grey centre section, suggests the instrument panel pictured has been taken from a high-grade model of the new HiLux.

Expect a simpler, single-colour dash in workhorse models.

Clearly visible are features like dual gloveboxes on the left side of the instrument panel, and untrimmed locations for outboard cup holders at each end of the panel.

Somewhat surprisingly, Toyota appears to have pushed the styling of the HiLux interior closer to its road-going SUV models, like the 2026 RAV4, with smooth surfacing and a brightwork strip that runs across the upper instrument panel and frames the outer air vents.

In contrast, overseas models like the Toyota Tacoma use a chunkier design theme, with modular interior parts that form a more upright and blocky styling language.

Even the current LandCruiser Prado comes with an interior design that includes throwback details like circular air vents and an upright fascia inspired by 60 Series and 70 Series LandCruisers.

With the infotainment display in position, it appears Toyota has decided against the screen-dominated appearance of the dashboards in the Ford Ranger, Kia Tasman, and LDV Terron 9.

The unit shown appears to show a thick black border surrounding the screen, suggesting it may stick with the current 8.0-inch display size of the current Hilux, or a 9.0-inch screen – in cheaper model grades, at least.

Previously leaked diagrams of the interior show the dash will feature a cowled instrument cluster, and angular centre console design, with the potential to feature a larger widescreen infotainment display.

Rather than an all-new model, the 2026 HiLux is slated to use the existing chassis and cabin size of the current-generation model, with the footprint carried over, but a comprehensive restyle of the front and rear ends, as well as a new interior.

This approach mirrors that seen on the Camry, and may be implemented on the next Corolla as Toyota looks to reduce development costs across its petrol-powered vehicle lines.
