Ford's slow-selling Mustang Mach-E electric car has gained new features, tweaked styling and improved performance for a price rise, amid deliveries down 42 per cent this year.

Ford has increased the price of the 2025 Mustang Mach-E electric SUV as part of an update adding new features, styling and performance, despite being outsold 100 to one by the Tesla Model Y last month.
The revised Mustang Mach-E – classified as a Model Year 2025 vehicle despite arriving in showrooms this month, three months away from 2026 – is $500 to $1000 dearer than the vehicle it replaces.
The line-up now opens from $65,990 plus on-road costs (up $1000), compared to $58,900 for the cheapest Tesla Model Y, which reported 3927 sales last month, against 39 Mach-Es (314 year-to-date).
New for the rear-wheel-drive Select and Premium grades is an upgraded electric motor, now producing 212kW/525Nm – a considerable boost from the old 198kW/430Nm Select, and up on torque but down on power from the previous Premium (216kW/430Nm).
The top-of-the-range, all-wheel-drive GT now produces 434kW and 955Nm, up from 358kW and 860Nm previously.
Battery capacities have changed, the Select's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack now quoting 73kWh, up from 72kWh, but the Premium has seen a reduction from 91kWh to 88kWh for its nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) unit.
Oddly, the only variant with an unchanged battery – the 91kWh pack in the GT – is the only one to see its driving range rating increase, now 515km based on European WLTP testing, up from 490km. The Select and Premium retain 470km and 600km WLTP ratings, respectively.
Ford says a 10 to 80 per cent fast charge on a 150kW DC plug in the Premium and GT now takes a claimed 36 minutes, down from 45 minutes. The Select's 32min rating is unchanged.
Zero to 100 per cent fast charging times on an 11kW plug (vs 10.5kW quoted previously) have changed from a claimed 7.4 hours for the Select and 10.9 hours for the Premium and GT, to 7.8 hours for the Select, 9.6 hours for the Premium, and 9.9 hours for the GT.
New under the skin is a standard-fit heat pump, claimed to improve the energy efficiency of the climate-control system, as well as revised sway bars, springs and dampers for Select and Premium models, said to improve comfort over bumps.
Styling changes include new matte black lower body cladding for the Premium – alongside body-coloured wheel-arch mouldings replacing gloss black – while the GT wears a new faux front 'grille' insert.
The Select gains the outgoing Premium's 19-inch wheels without aero covers, the Premium scores new 19-inch alloys inspired by the pre-update GT's 20s, and the latest GT receives an all-new 20-inch design.
Projector LED headlights from the Premium and GT are now standard across the model range, replacing the outgoing Select's reflector-beam units, while the Premium gains the GT's Brembo front performance brakes.
Inside, the gear selector has moved from a rotary dial to a steering-column stalk to unlock additional space in the centre console, and door sill plates are now standard across the range.
The front seats are now 10-way power-adjustable, up from eight-way, with the addition of adjustable under-thigh support.
Eight colours are available, with Shadow Black and Star White carrying over, and Grabber Blue, Vapour Blue, Carbonized Grey, Rapid Red and Space White replaced by Eruption Green, Molten Magenta (deep pink), Terrain (beige), Velocity Blue, Glacier Grey, and Grabber Yellow.
The 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E is due in Australian showrooms next month.
